In Loving Memory of David Hadley

David A. Hadley, (88), of Dormansland, Surrey passed away on 2nd April, 2024.

‍David, was born to Sydney and Gwendoline Hadley, on 18th February, 1936, in Leicester. He was a talented pianist and church organist, who read Greats at Merton College, Oxford. After graduating from Oxford, he joined the Civil Service, where he spent most of his career at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, reaching the position of Deputy Secretary. In 1990 he was awarded the honour of the Companion of the Order of the Bath by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

David is survived by his wife Veronica, son Christopher and grandson Thomas. David was predeceased by his parents and sister Pamela.

Aside from his love of music and opera, David was passionate about gardening. In particular, he served on the board of the Lingfield Nature Reserves, where he oversaw many improvements to the reserves and where he enjoyed hosting visits by local schools and cub scout troops.

A celebration of David Hadley's life

The funeral service will be held at St John the Evangelist Church, Dormansland on Tuesday 14th May 2024 at 1pm, followed by a reception at the Red Barn, Blindley Heath at 2pm.
